ETTAS e.V. Submits Position Paper on the Future of Erasmus+ in School Education

ETTAS e.V. (European Teacher Trainers Association) has actively contributed to the European Commission’s public consultation on the EU’s next long-term budget (MFF) by submitting a position paper focused on strengthening the school education sector in the upcoming Erasmus+ programme (2028–2035). As part of the ongoing initiative EU funding with Member States and regions” (consultation open until 7 May 2025), our contribution highlights the urgent need for more inclusive, strategic, and sustainable approaches to mobility and cooperation in schools.

Drawing from the experience of over 150 school consortia coordinators across 16 countries, ETTAS calls for a stronger recognition of school consortia as development actors, the expansion of learner mobility, better alignment with national education systems, and a reduction of administrative burdens. Our position paper urges the Commission to embed quality, equity, and long-term planning into the future Erasmus+ design to ensure all schools and learners—regardless of context—can benefit from international opportunities.

We invite stakeholders and policymakers to engage with our recommendations and to support a bold, inclusive vision for Erasmus+ as a key driver of professionalisation, innovation, and European solidarity in school education.
